Overview
Simple kidney cysts are fluid-filled sacs that are very common as people age. They are usually harmless and rarely cause symptoms.
Symptoms
Most cysts are asymptomatic. Large cysts may cause dull back pain or fever if infected.
Treatment
Monitoring
Periodic ultrasound or CT scans to ensure the cyst isn't growing or changing.
Drainage
If a cyst causes pain or blocks urine flow, it can be drained or surgically removed.
