Overview

Rezum is a minimally invasive procedure that uses the natural energy stored in water vapor, or steam, to remove excess prostate tissue that is pressing on the urethra.

How it Works

During the procedure, sterile water vapor is injected into the prostate tissue. The steam condenses, releasing energy that destroys the targeted cells. Over time, the body naturally absorbs the treated tissue, opening the urethra.

Benefits

  • Preserves sexual function
  • No permanent implant left behind
  • Quick, outpatient procedure
  • Significant symptom relief

Recovery

Most patients return to regular activities within a few days. Symptom improvement is typically noticeable within two weeks, with maximum benefit occurring around three months.
