Overview
Ligamentolysis, or suspensory ligament release, involves cutting the ligament that attaches the penis to the pubic bone. This allows the penis to hang lower, potentially increasing its visible flaccid length.
The Procedure
A small incision is made above the base of the penis. The suspensory ligament is carefully divided. To prevent reattachment, a spacer or fat graft may be placed in the gap.
Expectations
This procedure primarily affects flaccid length, typically adding 1-2 cm. It does not significantly change erect length. Realistic expectations are crucial.
Recovery
Post-operative care involves using weights or traction devices to prevent the ligament from healing back in its original position. Full recovery takes several weeks.
